I saw a picture of one too many nights ago It showed a mixture of our dreams and alcohol Yeah it was crazy, we all gave it all we had How amazing to see that night when we was fab A band of five mates Unafraid to live aloud Playing the old game Line and legth will leave no doubt Could this night possibly be topped out? Getting home here’s what I found The best twist must have a shout... 160 all out! 160 all out! 160 all out! 160 all out!

Against my better judgment I think I will try To tell a secret I thought your calling Could only imply You really missed me It seems I haven’t learned Very much in spite Of my recent history I know you like it But my oh my Why don’t you say what you want? I can’t stand your leading me on If I could write a love song And cross my heart with a ballpoint pen Would you like me then? I wish I could Turn back the time It was so silly To think like I did We’d have one great night When you said you’d meet me But with that pretty form And those starry eyes You must be busy And I’m not a man Who likes to stand in line Unless you tease me Why don’t you say what you want? I can’t stand this leading me on What if I write a love song And craft the tune with these bare hands Would you like me? Would you like me then?

You know I used to love to see you wearing your black dress But I'm afraid I must be honest, nowadays I'm not impressed That's just the way it goes You're new, then you get old So you'd better pay atention if I forget to say hello And on more than one ocasion you might think that I've grown cold I'm sorry but here's the deal I don't care how you feel 'Cause I don't love you anymore Don't know how I did before I realize you're just a bore And I would ask you to forget the things I said back when I used to be kind But I don't think that you remember them You paid no mind, or so I hope... And I should know There was a time when you would haunt me everynight And make me think about myself, my weight, my face, my height It was up to you To make it all come true So if you see me on the street just please pretend we haven't met Yes you've done it once before or did you think I would forget? I wanted to be your man But now frankly, I don't give a damn 'Cause I don't love you anymore I realize you're such a bore Don't know how I did before But I don't think that you will grief or stop and see what you've left behind If anything you're quite relieved Or rather, you don't mind at all No you don't mind at all.

Nothing in the paper he read Could tell he was about to have A day like no other would be like Once again at the usual bistrôt Sitting inside to hide from the cold A lovely girl sitting nearby Turns to him and asks the time In a sweet accent she can't hide He nearly jumped off his skin She was the woman of his dreams and said "It's nearly half-past six Excuse moi may I ask your name? By the way are you from the States? You must be loving gay Paris I'll tell you of some places you must see Go get your things come seat with me" Now the poor bourgeois Orders some pain-au-chocolat And makes some small talk "Maybe you'd like to walk With me by The Seine" She says "I'm sorry I can't be with you maybe we could meet this afternoon The Eiffel tower at half-past five?" "Well I'd like to...of course!" After the shock he stoped and he thought A nice gift for her I will buy Something pretty that will make her mine Any little thing I don't mind the price So it's off to Galleries Lafayette Maybe a pair of gloves, maybe a hat Oh it's so damn hard, he just can't choose Now five o'clock is getting nearer He can't stand it, he has to see her "Anyway it's just no use Mon Dieu I'm acting like a fool! I guess a diamond ring will do" So now the poor bourgeois Drives his long shining car He's got trembling hands He can't stand All this waiting So the poor bourgeois Drives down a Grand Boulevard Arriving at the tower He's got some flowers And by God, she's there! So many stories from such a pretty mouth About her lovely little town in the South And why she'd come to the city of love He's hypnotized by this Southern belle He knows well what he has to tell "You're the one I've been waiting for For you I'l paint the ceiling, I'll wipe the floor And love you forever more" He then suggests a crêpe suzette She says "I'm sorry I've got this plane to catch But give me your adress and we'll keep in touch" No word from her and the weeks go by He can't stand it, he has to fly "For her I'll even travel coach She's the one I long to touch Thinking about her ain't enough" So now the poor bourgeois Is down in Arkansas In this little town asking around Where could his love be Then the poor bourgeois Finds her in a bar Holding the hands of a tall young man Oh well... C'est la vie!

I did some talking to myself Said “Henry you better learn the truth You can’t depend on no one else You have to stop being so insecure” My own fourth of July has finally come You just blink your eyes and I’ll be gone On my way caring a simple song Woke up a little late today I had some trouble getting out of bed Dreamed about the girl the got away And the way it used to be way back Come on pack your bags, get on the road Baby don’t look back just go On your way with a simple song I think it’s time I face some facts This whole routine can only get me down Right now my life is such a wreck I need to find myself some other town Find a place on a map that you might like I know for a fact you will get by If life were as simple as a simple song Did some more talking to myself Said “ Henry what the hell is wrong with you? Are you still expecting help? Really by now you should have learned the rules” My very own fourth of July has finally come I can waste no time, I better run So go the words of a simple song

Driving to work one early morning I took a left turn without warning Yeah I took it for all it was worth Thought I'd leave it all behind How is it wrong when it feels right Now is it right just getting old? Take me down Lord Down to Whiskey River I'll be baptised boys And all will be forgiven With a chica Mejicana In the heart of Louisiana I got myself a taste of New Orleans I worked out the southern mistery With the aid of weed and whiskey I finally understood most of my dreams I'm rebel proud boys I write my own history Sing it loud boys The tune that you been whistling But this rebel won't drive away Until he pays what he must pay And this damn ride belongs to me As I sat down behind my desk Well I thought this day could be my last Is this how my last day's gonna be? Take me down boys Down to Whiskey River Take me down boys To the life I should be living I guess that I'm lost lost and killin' time Until I finally take that left turn I left behind

The sweat pours from my face And it hits the burning ground I dream of sands and waves The breeze and the rolling sound At long last summer's come And it's time I leave this town And sing those summer songs In a car with the top rolled down With nothing but time to waste I turned on the TV Saw reporters in beautiful places Places I'd like to see Well I know this TV sun Won't help me get some tan But my paycheck has come And I'm broke all over again The road is long But money is short I know this time will be just like The time before It just ain't right Lord I can't take this anymore 'Cause there ain't nothing like Summer indoors The summer spray blows your way On a deserted beach You walk alone like nothing's wrong As salt water hits your feet Then you'll sit beside your summer love Like a king upon his throne But me, I'm uphill still Spending summer on my own The road is long But money is short I know this time will be just like The time before It just ain't right Lord I can't take this anymore 'Cause there ain't nothing like Summer indoors

I heard the siren's call Maybe by mistake But I talked the talk And you took the bait How nice it is knowing There is never way too late Yes I was lonely So I had to wear my disguise Just like I wore it Night after night after night Thanks for the trouble Of coming to change my life Well I was tired of window shopping And never taking anything So I thought I'd resort to shoplifting I thought I was smart but then I saw my heart On the hand of a master thief So don't turn away Don't ever say You're giving it away Please be kind Or at least now won't you try And tell me we will never ever part You're the one who knows how to get me You and I I've got a thousand million plans Laid down be mine But please be careful now Don't break my heart 'cause you know You've already blown my mind

I own my time nobody minds I do just as I choose You out of the blue made me start thinking of you Girl it’s true, how can it be? I can’t control my mind, now there’s more than just me I fell on your spell I know so well I can’t forget How you’ve got it all after all you’re so perfect ‘Cause with that voice, you see I got no choice Now I wonder how I can play it safe, ‘cause I’m a bit afraid What if I like you more and more and more And get my knees down on the floor But I don’t care at all, I would risk it all! For one perfect night, just the perfect night Your lips meet mine, my hands on your thighs I hear you sigh, all through the night Why should I try? After all I’m quite well schooled I know how it goes, how I could play the fool But still all I feel is this desire I can’t control I want to hold you close and let you know I’m a bit afraid, ‘cause baby you’re so great What if I like you more and more and more And get my knees down on the floor But I don’t care at all, I would risk it all! For one perfect night, the perfect night When your lips meet mine And I run my hands all through your thighs I hear you breath and I hear you sigh All through the night, all through the night

Better make way for a new star Hear now and stop the press He says he’s off to Broadway And he’ll settle for nothing less He knows his stylish steps Like Gene and Lucky Garnett And as the train was leaving Well-wishers waved goodbye He grabbed and kissed his sweetheart And said with tears in his eyes “I’m gonna take the city of shows And bring you back a ring of gold” So the story goes, another young dream of old Out go the lights as he walks down the street of dreams Another night, another glitzy reverie Beneath the stars he sees his name on the marquee And he’s on his way The new toast of the town, he’s Broadway bound The wheel of fortune spins around, he’s Broadway bound The greatest thespian to be found, he’s Broadway bound At least that’s what he says He knows he can’t afford To let all his dreams go up in smoke He must get to The Late Show And tell Letterman some jokes Then get busted by the feds And check into rehab Yes he’s holding nothing back Or at least that’s what he says Out go the lights, he walks down the street of dreams Another night, another glitzy reverie From every part everyone will come to see Him on the stage The new toast of the town, he’s Broadway bound The wheel of fortune spind around, he’s Broadway bound The greatest thespian to be found, he’s Broadway bound At least that’s what he says

Some days start with the sweet sunset Some nights sizzle like silk cigarettes The Byrds are singing in my head Alive and well for the littlest while Weather forecast African mild Waltz my way through days of wild Where is my guardian angel Is she in a slumber? Or are celestial beings Getting unionized? Does she have a map Or my phone number? Could she have crashed With a satellite? Wasted and stumbling through a Western town The things I felt the things I found On my way down to the ground Watch the city spin some afterthougts And in every vast and empty parking lot Do all the things that I did not I'll stay in the car And Keep the engine running You know I don't agree With them traffic lights The rising sun And a written warning Brought the last breath Of the longest night
